Proposal Summary
Strong Organizations – Fund for Reno County – FY25 Repairs are needed to the entrance and some windows of the Community Building of Turon. Financial assistance is sought towards the repairs and maintenance of this 116 year old building, which still serves a variety of functions within the community. Our city Mission Statement speaks to our desire to continue to efficiently provide municipal services to community residents…. certainly within our city limits, and also to neighbors residing outside our city boundaries. This building serves numerous worthwhile purposes, but also requires maintenance and upkeep as the years pass.
Community Impact & Accomplishments To-Date
New construction and repairs to deteriorating areas will be readily visible to interested observant parties. An increase in the usage of the designated area will also signal community approval of the repairs.
Why Do You Think This Project Is Necessary?
Repairs have been needed to some window moldings and entrances of the Turon community building for some time. They have been on “funding delay” for too long already. Deterioration of some doorways and surrounding wall structure is already advanced. Building security is an issue, as well as longer term suitability of the affected area to continue to be used as an election polling station, venue for Friendship meals, venue for public meetings, venue for small gatherings such as birthday parties, and venue for City Council meetings.
