Our Capacity Building Fund provides small grants to strengthen an organization’s systems and thereby increase its effectiveness. Unlike our project-based grants, the capacity-building fund responds to internal organizational needs that impact a nonprofit’s stability, efficiency, and future success. There is no deadline and proposals can be submitted on an as-needed basis. We have two priorities for funding: we will assist organizations with paying for the host fee to be able to bring on an AmeriCorps volunteer. In addition, we provide funding for planning, organizational development, and, in some cases, emergency funding, where the organization needs funds before the next grant round. Please note that we prefer requests over $5,000 to be made through one of our competitive grant rounds.
While there is no deadline, we do have a $30,000 cap on grants to be made through this program, and there is a $10,000 hard cap on funds to be requested through this program.
